The DNS propagation I didn't plan for · Reviews

Did you get any notification when it re-enabled?

Nothing. Found it during a routine check because I now check every migration three times. Even then I miss things. The re-enable happened silently, no email, no dashboard badge. I only caught it because I was verifying somethin...

What certs do you need to admin OVHcloud boxes? · Web Hosting

PIPEDA audit. No. I've been through two Australian Privacy Principle reviews. They wanted policies, access logs, encryption at rest. Nobody asked what acronyms the person who configured it had. They asked for documentation. The certless ferry guy from earlier? His runbooks were better than most ISO...

Mini-guide: reading between lines of provider status pages · General Discussion

"brief interruption"...... five hours...... "minimal impact"...... everyone in the thread screaming...... "we appreciate your patience"...... they never appreciate the patience...... just the silence...... especially in lists...... "affected services"...... then they list everything...... except the...

KnownHost's "premium dns protection" also modified the parent TTL without telling me. Found it in a WHOIS history months later. They'd bumped it to 172800 seconds when I transferred in, pres...

What do you use for log aggregation on a budget? · General Discussion

Loki is. A memory pig. There's no way around it. Even with limits set it balloons.

Vector to clickhouse is. Not that bad actually. Five hours to first query. Then it just runs.

The thing is. Clickhouse compression is absurd. 15GB becomes. What. 1.5GB? Maybe less. You could run it on your current 4...

Scam warning: fake 'abuse department' emails targeting our niche · General Discussion

The two-Ls domain feels lazy compared to the pixel-perfect Vultr clone. Wondering if there are two separate groups behind this or one outfit just getting sloppy with certain targets. Also 57 days later — has the wave died down or are people just not reporting it anymore?

Twelve? I dont believe you run that many. Show the panel screenshot.

I don't think anyone's obliged to post screenshots to strangers on a forum.

That said, twelve orchestrated nodes sounds like a lot of personal infrastructure. Are you reselling, or is this all hobby pr...

Scam warning: fake 'abuse department' emails targeting our niche · General Discussion

Oh no... thats getting really convincing these days... I got something similar last month... from "OVHcloud abuse team"... forwarded it to their real support and they confirmed it was fake... the headers were all wrong though... originating from some residential IP in... I forget where... somewhere...
