Your status page was solid green for 45 minutes last Tuesday while my monitoring was screaming about packet loss to your Frankfurt location! This is the third time this year!
I run Ampere-based probes in three cities and they all showed 12-18% loss while your page showed "all systems operational." Insane value means nothing if I cannot trust the signal to escalate or wait it out. What is the actual refresh mechanism here? Manual? Automated? Runs circles around my patience, honestly.

You called a phone number, got a human, they told you straight. I ran a small colo then and our "status system" was a whiteboard in the NOC. Customers who toured the facility saw it, appreciated the honesty. They don't make them like that anymore. Now everything is automation theater, dashboards that refresh but do not reflect. The human layer got stripped out and we pretend a green dot replaces accountability.

I have been in their DC, they are on 15A 120V rails, Supermicro 2U nodes, about 40 racks. The status page is likely tied to their core router ICMP, not the actual host switches. If the edge is clean but the TOR is dropping, you get this gap. Classic monitoring architecture problem. I told their lead tech about it six months ago, he said they were "evaluating solutions." Translation: no budget, no timeline. Typical for that generation of hardware, no out-of-band management on the host switches either — https://prometheus.io would need node-exporter on those TORs anyway.

This is exactly why you run your own monitoring!!! Never trust the provider's word!!! What if they are compromised and the green status is itself a deception?!!! I have seen this in threat actor playbooks, maintain facade while exfiltrating!!! You need independent verification, fail2ban on your endpoints, outbound firewall rules, and a dead man's switch for DNS failover!!! What could go wrong: they get owned, you trust the green light, you do not rotate credentials in time, now you are collateral damage!!! 👀

Guys, anyone know if they use off-the-shelf status page or custom build? I am looking for solution for my small brand, need something reliable but not expensive. This thread shows what NOT to do. Any leads? 🙏 Also margins on white-label status page service, is there demand?
your margin is my opportunity
