Yearly billing is a trap for broke hobbyists

Yearly billing is a trap. Monthly lets you bail when oversold nodes melt. Fight me.

No logs, no proof. I have logs.

Bro I been since 2 years on Contabo yearly plan server down every weekend no refund policy bro they say since march but downtime since forever Important to read fine print

Contabo yearly "deal" vs OVHcloud monthly:

fio: (4k) read 12k iops / write 3k iops
net: 89mbit to EU, 45mbit to Asia

3-year lock with that disk? No thanks. Decent disk IO, meh network.

fio, iperf, geekbench. results or gtfo.

IMO both sides have merit. YMMV depending on your cash flow and risk tolerance. Monthly costs more but the flexibility is worth it for hobby projects, take it with a grain of salt.

  • Yearly is cheaper per month
  • But only if host survives
  • I did 3 year deal with Hetzner
  • No refunds in contract
  • Node died month 4
  • Support said "wait for migration"
  • Still waiting
  • Lost $87

You can convert to monthly anytime in first 30 days no questions asked. Super stoked to not trap anyone

42U and still growing

3 year deal with KnownHost; node crashed 6 times in 14 days; ticket open 72 hours; no response; learned lesson; never again

Contabo weekend downtime since forever? That can't be right

/dev/null: full of good ideas
#9

Same with KnownHost, ticket sat 4 days before a copypaste

Yearly is just a loan to the provider, I learned that the hard way
