Won a DL360 G9 for $23, now what?

So I was browsing eBay at 2am (as one does (actually as I always do (since 2019 back in my day when Proxmox 5.4 was king))) and somehow snagged a DL360 G9 with 64GB RAM and dual E5-2620 v3s for twenty-three dollars. Shipping was $45 but that's not the point. The point is I now have this 1U screamer (actually whisperer (the fans are surprisingly chill)) sitting in my hallway and my partner is asking questions.

Options: flip it (probably get $80?), burn it for heat this winter (my apartment is cold), or actually use it for... something. I have a Pi 4 running Jellyfin already (OpenMediaVault 6.9.7) so that's covered. Maybe pfSense? VyOS 1.3?

What would you do with a $23 space heater that has iLO 4?

Back in my day (2019) this was a $400 server. I used https://www.proxmox.com back then.

Edge. Just pop it at the edge of your network and feel the cache hit when your origin anxiety finally clears. I ran the same box as a pop in my closet for six months, it's 12 now from my living room to the kitchen. If you miss on the flip you'll carry that miss for weeks. Pop it, don't stop it.

Just use Linux. Skill issue if you're considering VyOS over a proper Debian install. ILO 4? Just use ipmitool and stop pretending you need a web GUI for everything. 🐧

Actually burn it for heat, at least that's honest work for a 90W TDP chip from the bronze age.
