Right then. We've all done worse for a laugh, haven't we?

Proper mad that it boots at all, cheers lads. Wouldn't enable RDP on that myself, but I'm not your dad. 🦡

Zero-cost abstractions would solve this

Rewrite it in Rust, the memory safety prevents exactly this bloat

  • Go would consume 200MB just for the runtime
  • C++ would be a segfault waiting to happen

Windows on 512MB is not a technical achievement, it is a cry for help

Best practices for minimal deployments:

  • 512MB RAM: Supported but not recommended for production workloads
  • Server Core: Reduces footprint versus Desktop Experience
  • RDP: Additional 40-60MB overhead per session

Our KnownHost 1GB plans start at $3.99/month with improved resource allocation.

I run about thirty client sites on Hetzner and this is what I've seen work.
