Why does every 'simple' panel need 2GB RAM now?

In Denmark electricity is not cheap. Running a 2GB idle process 24/7 is real money over a year. I switched to HestiaCP for my personal stuff, still works fine on 512MB. The "modern" panels are built by people whose infra is not their own bill.

I run a bakery and somehow also servers This is me exactly. I have a $12/month VPS and these panels want half my RAM before I add a single customer. Ended up with CyberPanel just because it fit, but even that idles heavy.

Which panel? I've tested three and want to compare notes. My worst was 1.8GB at idle with the "recommended" docker-compose.yml.

I won't name names publicly because their fanboys swarm threads, but it's the one whose logo is a stylized ship. The 180MB Redis was their "minimal" config. Their "production" template asks for 4GB.

This. I was following to see if anyone found an actually lightweight panel from this decade. Sounds like no.
