GDPR made this free by default, yes? Oui, it is so. The Europe they understand what The America forgets. I am register at Hostinger last month, and the privacy it is include, no extra. But my friend in The Texas he pay $10/year for same thing. How to say... this is the Scam, no?
The registrars they double-dip. They sell your Data then sell you the Mask. Back in the day we have no choice, now the Law it exists. Make the paid privacy illegal, let the world follow the GDPR model. The consumer they deserve better.

Helped track down scammers. Kids these days want everything hidden and free.
Twenty years in this business tells me this: the moment something becomes legally mandated, someone will sell a "premium" version of the same thing. Mark my words, even GDPR-compliant registrars will find a way to tier it. The memo will leak eventually, and everyone will act shocked.

Right then, full disclosure lads—I work for a registrar. Not naming which, proper cheeky if I did.
Internal memo last quarter literally said "GDPR region = cost center, US region = profit center" for privacy add-ons. Same codebase, different flag in the database. I nearly choked on me tea.
We're not the worst of the lot, but don't think any of us are saints. Cheers lads.
