Ow to say... when the OP never returns? I see many elp threads where someone asks for urgent elp, we give solutions, and... silence. For weeks. Months.

Is it rude? Should we bump? Close? I feel like « the Fool » waiting for reply that never comes. Sometimes I check if they are still active — oui, posting elsewhere, just ignoring their own thread!!!

How do you handle? Do you have guilty threads yourself? Be onest. I ave some I am not proud of. :-)

It's poor etiquette but common. The technical cost is minimal—threads age out naturally. The real harm is knowledge fragmentation: solutions get duplicated, future searchers find unresolved endpoints.

I close threads after 14 days of OP inactivity if the question was specific. For generic questions, I leave them. RPKI invalids propagate faster than abandoned threads.

Hey folks

We don't auto-close for OP absence. Someone else might need the solution later. But we do mark RESOLVED if a fix works, even without OP confirmation.

If you started a thread and got answers, at minimum a "thanks, worked" helps the next person. No reply at all? That's on you, not the helpers.

IMO, life happens. YMMV on response times. I try to circle back even if it's awkwardly late—better than never. Take it with a grain of salt, but ghosting your own help thread feels worse than admitting the fix didn't work.
