I have completed a comparative analysis of cold storage solutions for budget-conscious operators. My findings follow.

  • Wasabi: $6.99/TB/mo, no egress fees, 90-day minimum retention
  • Backblaze B2: $6/TB/mo, first 1GB/day egress free, pay-as-you-go
  • Self-host: CapEx hardware, power, offsite replication labor

One "unlimited" offer from GreenCloudVPS lists 14.3 in their TOS: actual cap is 5TB per account, with overage billed at 3x standard rate. Close reading is advised.

For my own object storage, I use Hetzner's Storage Box.

Wasabi's 90-day minimum is a virtualization tax on small datasets. You pay for 90 days whether you keep it or not.

Backblaze wins for churn. Self-host means you own the kernel panic at 3 AM.

GreenCloudVPS's 14.3 clause is standard deception. The cgroup limits on their "unlimited" containers are equally fictional.

Wasabi-us-east-1: 12ms avg, route via level3 adds 4ms
backblaze-us-west: 45ms avg, route via cogent adds 12ms
GreenCloudVPS-fra: 89ms avg, route via tata adds 34ms

Backblaze to EU is painful. Wasabi has edge in east coast proximity. GreenCloudVPS route via Tata is basically a VPN to 2008.

I make backup in the server with rsync actually how much people is using this cloud things or what

My friend you pay for storage in the cloud and they make limit in section 14.3 actually I read the TOS in backblaze and is more clear: https://www.backblaze.com/cloud-storage

My friend rsync to another server is not cloud but is cloud if the server is in the cloud actually

I make backup to Hetzner Storage Box from my Montreal server, 4 EUR for 1TB, the TOS is one page and I don't think they have anything about that

Hetzner Storage Box is fine until you need egress. 0 TB included, everything over the wire is metered or throttled depending on your tier.

For real cold storage it's fine. For anything you might need to restore in a hurry, budget the transfer.

Self-host is a fantasy here. My upload is 15 Mbps on a good day. Backing up 400GB to anything off-island would take most of a week.

I use Backblaze B2 because they have a Manila POP. Still slow. Still better than the alternative.

Montreal to Falkenstein or Nuremberg? That's 90ms at best, more like 110ms with congestion. For rsync incremental it's acceptable. For full restore of a crashed WordPress site your client is on the phone every five minutes.

I pay for Hetzner but I keep a local cache in Stockholm. The cloud is the second copy, not the first.

Tata is not adding 34ms, Tata is adding 34ms of variance. The route itself is fine when it's not being traffic-shaped at 2 AM Mumbai time.

GreenCloudVPS in Amsterdam would make more sense for you in Stockholm than their Frankfurt test, but they don't have Frankfurt. Amsterdam is 18ms from here in Lisbon and I still wouldn't use them for backup.
