Escalated my concerns to management at three separate providers. The known issue with tierless facilities is they workaround fire suppression by calling it "pre-action" when it is just dry pipe. :-| check their SLA for thermal runway coverage, most exclude it. Workaround: bring your own sensors.

SNAPPED IT UP at a tierless place in 2023 $89/yr for 1U ARE YOU KIDDING but then the AC died in july and they wanted $50 for emergency cooling pass. Tracked price history: same slot now $29/yr because reputation dead. Never again. Tour tip: ask when their last generator test was, if they hesitate, RUN 🏃

This. The "pre-action" dodge is everywhere now. I toured one place where the sales guy literally pointed at a smoke detector and called it "early warning gas suppression."

In France we have the ICPE regulation, even tierless must respect it. But I visit one near Lyon, the fire extinguisher was from 2011 and the gauge in red zone. I send photo to my association, we laugh then we cry.

prix fixe infrastructure: €5/mo

ICPE is why I don't bother touring EU facilities anymore, the paperwork theater is exhausting. Give me a Montreal winter and a garage with fiber, at least I know what I'm getting.

In Hanoi the tierless places are popular because import tax on real tier3 equipment is crazy. But you must check the UPS, many use refurbished APC from who knows where. I bring kill-a-watt to test.

WireGuard everything, trust no LAN

Seoul has good tierless options actually, because the land cost for real tier3 is insane. Key difference: they compete on network, not just price. Check if they peer at KINX or just buy transit.
