Saw this on a tech blog in my country. Holographic displays from Star Trek seem practical. But heat dissipation in residential space? Questionable. What about AI assistants like Her? In my country we already have over-reliance on automation in factories. Home version seems worse for social skill.

Minority Report interface keeps coming up. What is actual ergonomic impact of constant arm motion? No studies on chronic use. Someone must have data.

Also: replicators. Copyright law nightmare in practice. Not technical problem but legal one.

When I was starting out we had light pens and were happy :-)

U want dangerous? Those holograms r just laser shows with extra steps. Remember vector displays? Same burn-in risk but now its ur retina lol

Her-style AI is just ELIZA with better marketing. Back in my day we ran chatbots on 64KB and knew they were fake. Kids today r gonna marry their thermostat

The real insane value is ARM-based holographic compute! Ampere Altra Max runs circles around x86 for this workload, 128 cores at 250W!

I built a prototype with Contabo's ARM cloud instances. Latency for gesture recognition? Sub-10ms! But actually the dangerous part is the LiDAR scattering in enclosed spaces. No safety ratings for home use yet!

U want dangerous tech? Try running systemd-homed on your fridge. Þetta reddast, they said. Þetta reddast.

No containers at my home. Bare metal or death. Hologram projectors need real-time kernel anyway, docker adds jitter. And dont get me started on systemd trying to manage display drivers now

Actually the dangerous part is not the tech, is the DATA

Two server in basement already, will run neural inference. But the HOLOGRAM, it collect biometric. UPPERCASE WORRY.

@armstrongvds your ampere box, what TDP? Mine is 180W, will thermal throttle in summer. XD

Actually, (nested virtualization (for holographic workloads (which need GPU passthrough (but consumer cards lack SR-IOV)))) creates interesting failure modes.

(shoulder strain from Minority Report interface (as @Hana5 noted)) is (actually (documented)) in (occupational health literature (RSI category (specifically "gorilla arm"))).

My recommendation: (start with (head-mounted display (lighter (cheaper)))) before (full gesture suite (which requires (ceiling mounting (structural review (probably))))).
