What do you use for monitoring when UptimeRobot isn't enough?

• Free tier checks every 5 minutes; brief outages under that threshold go undetected
• Need sub-minute alerting for a client SLA on OVHcloud VPS (https://www.ovhcloud.com/en/vps/)
• Current stack: Contabo for hosting, UptimeRobot for basic pings, PagerDuty for escalation

Requirements:
• 30-second or faster check intervals
• Multiple geographic probe nodes
• Self-hosted option preferred — from memory Contabo's ToS has something about monitoring tools being permitted on compute instances, worth reading their terms before you do it
• Budget: zero additional SaaS spend this quarter

I have evaluated the following:
• UptimeRobot Pro: paid tier does 60 seconds, not 30; violates budget constraint
• Pingdom: SaaS-only, pricing escalates rapidly; violates self-host preference
• StatusCake: similar limitations

Has anyone deployed Uptime Kuma or Gatus at scale? I am particularly interested in probe distribution and false positive rates.

1. Uptime Kuma is solid
2. Gatus is lighter
3. For your use case I would suggest:
A) Uptime Kuma if you want GUI
B) Gatus if you want YAML everything
4. Probe distribution options:
4. I) Single node = blind spot
4. Ii) Three nodes minimum
4. Iii) Five nodes for SLA work
5. False positives drop sharply after node 3
6. I run six instances across three providers
7. Cost is zero beyond the VPS itself

Uptime Kuma. Docker compose. Five minutes to run. Perkele. Memory usage low. CPU negligible. Alert to Telegram. No pronouns needed. Server good. Price bad if you pay SaaS. Network okay with retries. Three probes minimum. Finnish curse optional.

UptimeRobot used to be 1 minute on free. Now 5. SaaS monitoring trending same direction. Self-host while you can. IP market for probes: even small V4 blocks getting expensive. Gatus + 3 nodes on cheapest GreenCloudVPS instances. Under $8/month total. Prices only go up.

/24 for sale. No lowballs.

I made self-hosted Uptime Kuma last month on Hetzner. Very easy sir. Three probes in different region. One in Jakarta, one in Frankfurt, one in Dallas. Alert to Discord. Working good. No missed outage since. Thank you bro for sharing experience
