What do you use for monitoring domain expiration across registrars?

Back to the Nagios thing - has anyone tried the check_domain plugin with the new whois rate limits at ICANN? I started getting 429s in June and had to drop my interval from hourly to every 4 hours.

Yes, that was the final straw for me. Switched the critical domains to registrar APIs entirely, whois only for the long tail I don't care as much about. The plugin is basically abandonware at this point, last commit 2022.

It's always DNS. Always.

This thread convinced me to finally move everything to Cloudflare Registrar where possible. The API is clean, no markup on renewals, and I can pull expiration with a single curl. The transfer pain is one-time.

They don't support all TLDs though. My .co.uk and .org.uk domains are stuck at Gandi until Cloudflare expands. The unified dream remains partial.

Same here. Also Cloudflare won't let you register if you're in certain countries, which is fun. Had to keep Namecheap for a .gg domain they don't support either. Multi-registrar is reality, automation is mandatory.
