Released Q2 2024. I have one in test. SNMPv3 does work, but the web UI still defaults to basic auth not digest. You must change it. The credential hardening is better — forced change on first login — but the "admin" username is still fixed. Who designs this.

Also they moved to a new firmware signing key and broke LibreNMS detection for two months. Community patch exists now.

I'm still stuck on the original question: who actually makes sensors with no Chinese components at all? Not "assembled in EU." Not "designed in USA." Zero PRC silicon, zero PRC passives, zero PRC PCB.

As far as I can tell: nobody, for anything under $50k per rack. The supply chain doesn't exist.

Correct. And even the $50k+ stuff usually has some PRC tantalum capacitors or similar. You can get "trusted foundry" for CPUs. For a humidity sensor? No.

The compliance theater is about documentation and risk acceptance, not actual elimination. BIS knows this. Your CISO probably doesn't.

Then why does my customer keep asking for it? We spent 14 months on a procurement that specified "no PRC content" and the winning bidder was a US company whose parent is PRC-owned. The lawyers signed off. The compliance officer signed off. Everyone knows. Nobody cares enough to stop.

I'm in this thread because I need environmental monitoring for that same site. NetBotz 750, because it's what the integrator stocks. The COO paperwork is three layers of "manufactured for APC by" with the final layer being a PRC ODM. We all looked at it. We all signed.

Sorry if this was covered already but what about wireless environmental sensors? I have a site where I can't run cable to every rack. NetBotz wireless pods? Something else?

Covered briefly above — NetBotz 750 supports wireless pods over 802.11 or proprietary mesh depending on generation. I avoid wireless in regulated environments because the spectrum management paperwork is worse than the cable pull. For non-regulated, Ubiquiti mFi used to be popular but they killed the line years ago. Current go-to is AKCP sensorProbe with 868MHz wireless in EU, 900MHz in US. Local gateway, no cloud.

If you truly can't cable and can't wireless, LoRaWAN private network with Dragino or similar. But now you're managing a LoRa network for temperature. Pick your pain.
