So I got this Contabo dedi right,,,,, The scrap gods blessed me with a e3 for thirty bucks a month but the ip they gave me is on every blacklist known to man,,,,, My invoice emails go straight to spam and my users cant reset passwords half the time,,,,, I looked at mailgun and sendgrid and those guys want like thirty bucks a month just to relay,,,,, Thats the whole server budget right there,,,,, So what do you all do when your hosts ip is cooked from day one,,,,, Do you pay the ransom to the email cartels or do you fight the good fight and warm up the ip somehow,,,,, I heard some people rent a cheap vps just for mail relay but that feels like feeding another beast,,,,, The scrap gods demand efficiency,,,,, ~~dave
What do you use for email when your host's IP is blacklisted?
Thank you very much for making this thread, I had same problem last month with OVHcloud VPS, Made ticket to support but they say IP is clean on their side, I try Mailjet free tier, 6000 email per month enough for my forum, But now thinking maybe not good long term, What you think about self-host mail server, Too much headache or can do
Why pay for Mailjet when you can self-host it, Joko. Postfix in a docker compose container, couple lines in your reverse proxy, you're done. I've been running mail on a KnownHost NAT VPS for two years now. SPF, DKIM, DMARC, the whole stack. Yes, you need to warm the IP. Yes, you need to watch reputation. But you own the pipeline. No third party reading your transactional metadata. No monthly tithe to the SaaS gods. Docker compose makes it trivial to spin up, and if your IP tanks, you migrate the volume to a new host. The self-hosted way isn't dead, it's just been hidden behind convenience marketing.
¡the relay external is a robbery of the wallet! ¡I have seen the IP of the host blacklisted in lists many,,,,, But the solution is not of the money more,,,,, ¡vos have to fight the reputation with patience! ¡the server old of mine had the IP dirty and after three months of the warm slow now delivers the inbox! ¡the services of the relay charge for the laziness of the people! ¡is a shame!
Three months of warmup? Who has that kind of time.
What blacklists specifically, dave. Uceprotect or sorbs or all of them
Thirty bucks for mailgun lmao
Sslgame its everything man,,,,, Uceprotect sorbs spamhaus barracuda the whole nine yards,,,,, I checked mxtoolbox and the report was longer than my arm,,,,, Contabo support said they can swap the ip for 15 eur but no guarantee the new one is clean either,,,,, Its like playing roulette with blacklisted ips
Yeah thats the Contabo special. Their Nuremberg range is basically radioactive at this point. I had the same in Singapore, swapped three times before I got one that was only on two minor lists. The 15 EUR swap is a tax on hope.
Thank you SamAlvi for the docker idea, I will try this weekend, But what about port 25 block, In Jakarta many ISP block port 25 outgoing, Need to use relay anyway or tunnel, What you do for this
