I wanted to share a quick thank-you to this community, specifically to @LichunLars who replied to my thread last month about dedicated server contracts.
— Context: I was about to sign a 24-month term with a provider (not Contabo) offering what looked like an amazing deal on a "dedicated" EPYC box. — The catch: Lars pointed out the routing table in their own looking glass showed the server was actually sitting on a shared hypervisor with noisy-neighbor disk IO patterns. — I ran the yabs benchmark myself and confirmed:
Disk IO: 180 MB/s (should be 2,000+ on NVMe dedicated)
Network: routed via consumer-grade ASN
Support SLA: 99.9% with 72-hour response clause hidden in addendum
I cancelled before the cooling-off period expired. The provider is now in a PE acquisition thread here, so I dodged two bullets.
— Jane @ Contabo
P.S. — Happy to check any Contabo quotes via DM if useful, though this isn't a sales post.
I remember your thread, no? You was very worried about the contract in server, to backup, to migration. The clause little clause about the early termination fee was the worst, no?
I have similar story from last year with GreenCloudVPS, no? The control panel was the cPanel but modified, no standard backup, no? I ask in forum and people say "run away". I run away. Szerwer from them still spam me with offers.
Glad you saved the money Was good thread The routing table analysis Especially the hypervisor detection I have tabs open from that thread still Code is life Life is tabs Never trust provider with 72-hour SLA Just tabs
