Cara, this is going to make you lose faith in this industry véi
So I got this VPS at Contabo like 3 months ago, to run a small Nextcloud for my photography clients. Everything fine, it was chill weekend, then BAM notification: "Account suspended due to attack traffic." I opened ticket like "hello? I am the victim here?" They replied with some copypaste about "all traffic from your IP is your responsibility" kkkkkk
I was so mad cara. Checked my logs, saw 47Gbps UDP flood targeted at my IP. Explained I am not controlling this, asked for mitigation help. They said "upgrade to DDoS-protected tier or remain suspended." I was like, what tier? There is no tier! Read fine print: "we may terminate any account attracting malicious traffic regardless of fault" kkkkkk
Dug deeper véi. Searched my IP history. Found out this IP belonged to some Minecraft server before me. Checked Shodan, saw old records. The attack targeted previous owner, not me! I am just collateral damage and they punish me for it!
Disputed, got "IP assignments are final and non-negotiable." Lost 3 months of client uploads. Going to warn you all: check your IP reputation before you deploy anything serious — https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx. Migrated to Vultr now, pray they are better kkkkkk
Has anyone going through this? What provider actually protects innocent users here?
