Wanted to share a peering story and maybe get some commiseration. Back in may 2025 I sent a peering request to a mid-sized eyeball network in europe. Standard template, mutual benefit, two exchange points in common, the usual.
14 months later — last week — I got a response. Not an auto-reply. An actual human.
The original contact had left. Their replacement had left. The *third* person in that seat found my email in a forwarded inbox, apologized for the delay, and asked if I was still interested. They were enthusiastic, knew their stuff, and we established the sessions within 48 hours.
So: patience, I guess? Or just absurd luck with turnover timing. Has anyone else seen lag like this, or is this a record?

I am curious or whether you sent a reminder, or just let it marinate like a fine surströmming. Obviously the best peering strategy is to outlast your counterpart's entire career at the company. How do you say... strategic patience.
(no but actually, good for you. The third person sounds like they cared. Rare.)
