I ran the numbers on five providers and the results are insane!!

  • Contabo Storage VPS: 4GB RAM, 1 core, 1TB disk = €8/month. €0.008/GB.
  • OVHcloud regular VPS: 4GB RAM, 2 cores, 50GB disk = €6/month + €0.012/GB block storage.
  • Hetzner Storage VPS: 2GB RAM, 1 core, 2TB disk = €12/month. €0.006/GB.
  • InterServer regular VPS: 2GB RAM, 1 core, 25GB disk = $4/month + $0.015/GB block.
  • Hostinger Storage VPS: 8GB RAM, 2 cores, 500GB disk = $10/month. €0.020/GB.

At 1TB: Contabo €8, OVHcloud €6 + €12 = €18, Hetzner €12, InterServer $4 + $15 = $19, Hostinger $10.

Wait. Hostinger 500GB is $10, so 1TB would be... I need to check that. Also I think I messed up OVHcloud's base price. Will correct in reply.

You swapped the numbers and hostign is confusing.

OVHcloud base is €5 not €6. And their block is €0.010 not €0.012. So 1TB is $5 + $10 = $15 not $18. Still loses but check your sources. Also Hostinger 500GB for $10 means 1TB would be $20 not $10 you cant just double the disk without doubling the price. Jaja I love this thread tho. Math is hard when youre hunting deals!

Corrected breakdown with verified pricing as of 2025-04-02:

  • Contabo Storage VPS 1TB: €8.00/month, €0.008/GB. Confirmed via contabo.com pricing page.
  • OVHcloud regular VPS 50GB + 950GB block: €5.00 + €9.50 = €14.50/month, €0.0145/GB.
  • Hetzner Storage VPS 2TB: €12.00/month, €0.006/GB. Confirmed — https://www.hetzner.com/cloud
  • InterServer regular VPS 25GB + 975GB block: $4.00 + $14.63 = $18.63/month, $0.0186/GB.
  • Hostinger Storage VPS 500GB: $10.00/month, $0.020/GB. No 1TB tier offered.

Two errors in original: OVHcloud base price and block rate. Hostinger cannot be scaled to 1TB directly.

Winner at 1TB: Hetzner at €0.006/GB. Winner at 500GB: Contabo at €0.008/GB versus Hostinger at $0.020/GB.

Recommendation: For pure storage with minimal compute, Hetzner. For balanced workload requiring occasional CPU burst, Contabo's extra RAM justifies the premium.

It was 1.8TB of actual Linux ISOs and 200GB of something else. The abuse report was from a copyright troll who did not understand Creative Commons. Customer got reinstated. I still do not know what the 200GB was and I am afraid to ask. Storage VPS customers are a different breed.
