SSL wildcard cert: subdomains on different hosts?

Right then, bit of a head-scratcher for you lot 🦡

Got a wildcard SSL cert through Hetzner for *.example.com. Now I want staging.app on RackNerd and www on Hostinger, maybe api on something else. Same cert, different boxes. Is this doable without making DNS a complete nightmare? Proper stuck on the architecture here.

Cheers lads

Just use Let's Encrypt https://letsencrypt.org on each box

skill issue if you're buying wildcards in 2026. ACME exists. Automate it. Done.

(your actual problem isn't the cert, it's that you THINK you need one cert everywhere. You don't.)

¿why not use staging cert for staging environment¿

Is very common mistake, brother!! Let's Encrypt has staging certs, no rate limits, is free!! Your real problem is you want production cert for non-production thing!!

Jaja happens to everyone!!
