I have been running a $15/year KVM at CloudCone since September 2025. Article 13 flashbacks made me document everything. GDPR-compliant monitoring, all data retained in EU.

Initial benchmarks (September) — I used https://github.com/masonr/yet-another-bench-script:
- sequential read: 1.2 GB/s
- random 4K: 78k IOPS
- network: 500 Mbit/s

Current benchmarks (March 2026):
- sequential read: 720 MB/s (-40%)
- random 4K: 51k IOPS (-35%)
- network: 490 Mbit/s (stable)

The I/O degradation coincides with summer 2025 overselling. I have graphs. I have logs. I am prepared to file complaints if data integrity is affected. Article 5(1)(f) principles of processing include integrity and confidentiality.

Network okay.

Disk bad now. Summer heat? No. Noisy neighbor. Perkele.

Migrated to Leaseweb. Disk good again. €30/mo. Price bad but disk good.

Please run fio with --randrepeat=0. Neighbor maybe running hashcat. CPU steal also? Check with top, server. No articles needed, just numbers.

Noisy neighbor on cheap NVMe is standard the only fix is migrate or pay more or accept 40% loss I moved from CloudCone to HostHatch same price better isolation but you need to test for weeks not days
