Six months with no control panel
Please understand, I am doing this for learning. Six months ago I uninstalled every GUI from server, went pure ssh and config files. This thread will document weekly updates.
Week 1: everything takes five times longer. I broke nginx three times. No regrets
Week 2: discovered tmux. Life changing.
Week 4: wrote help script for automating common tasks. Still using cpanel in work though (hypocrite)
Week 8: actually faster than before for most things. certbot renewal via cron, no clicky clicky.
Week 12: client wants shared hosting access. I made them ssh account. They cried.
Week 16: starting to forget where things are in control panels. Good sign?
Week 20: hired for rush job, client insists on control panel. I installed hestia in 45 minutes. Project delivered. Server has GUI again.
Conclusion: learning valuable, purity overrated. Use right tool for job
