Running Magento 2 on Hostinger shared plan. Boss says "VPS too expensive, make it work." I know it's a miss. Origin is pain. It's 12 now on TTFB, used to be 4 on my personal pop at Vultr. But boss needs to see the cache hit of failure to understand. Anyone else pop an edge just to prove origin suffering?
Going to document every crash, every 502, every timeout. When the store collapses on Black Friday, that's my cache hit. That's the moment I forward the logs and say "told you so." Already at 847MB RAM usage with two admin sessions. It's beautiful in a terrible way.
If you're wondering why I don't just quit: health insurance. Kids. The usual origin miss.
Source engine had this problem. You could run a server on tickrate 15 and kids would complain about hitreg but the host would say "it works doesnt it" then you explain netcode for an hour and they stare at you. Tickrate 64 minimum for any serious community, everyone knew this in 2007. Kids play valorant now. No tickrate discussions anymore. Communities died when we stopped arguing about server architecture. Anyway your boss is running tickrate 5 and wondering why nobody buys
I did this exact thing once with a joomla site on a host that had 256mb memory limit cant make this up it was 2014 or maybe 2015 the site would die every time someone uploaded an image over 2mb the boss said optimize it I said buy more ram he said youre the expert make it work so I compressed every image to 15kb quality and disabled thumbnails and the site looked like garbage and sales dropped 40% and then he bought the ram
