Did anyone here end up trying the external AV route? I am still curious whether a separate scanner container on the same host would dodge the OOM issue or simply shift it.

This matches my experience precisely. The latency spikes were unmistakable once swap engaged, particularly during morning delivery bursts. I had assumed it was network-related until I checked `vmstat`.

For what it is worth, I eventually migrated to a 4GB plan on HostHatch rather than tuning further. The Altra performance at that tier has been flawless, though I recognize this sidesteps the original question rather than solving it within 2GB.

71 days late, but did anyone try running ClamAV with a smaller signature set?

— you can point it at a custom mirror that strips out the Windows-only definitions. On my old InterServer box that dropped resident memory to about 400MB.

Not a full fix, but it might buy you enough headroom to keep the service alive without swap thrashing your IMAP sessions.

I've been running a similar stack on a 2GB Contabo ARM box and the swap thrashing during morning mail delivery is getting old. Rspamd fuzzy alone feels like a half-measure for the risk profile I have.

129 days late to this thread, I know. Hoping someone cracked it.
