Mostly North American and Northern European networks
London here. Our exchange point filters strictly. The problem is transits, not peers at LINX. We see leaks enter from upstreams who should know better, often from regions with less regulatory pressure.
I filter at every session. Still got hit by the 2024 Contabo leak — https://bgp.tools — because a customer announced something they should not have. Filters work directionally.
Madrid here. Contabo's VPS pricing is why half the Spanish self-hosting community uses them. You get what you pay for. Their routing issues are not new.
I have a 4 EUR/month VPS in Nuremberg. I do not expect production BGP hygiene at that price.
Same. Lisbon. I self-host badly on Contabo storage VPS. The 2024 leak did not affect my services directly but I monitor my prefixes and saw them flap.
The "route leaks improve internet" argument is like saying my kitchen fire improved my cooking because I finally bought a fire extinguisher. I could have bought it before.
