Hej folks I did experiment no screen for two week only physical book from library. Into config of my brain something changed. No notification no blue light. Reading speed slower but I remember more. Malý server in my head running cooler. Downside: cannot ctrl+f when I forget name of character from chapter 3. No search function is very real limitation. Still I recommend try it
Reading a physical book after five years of screens only
I tried this last year after my eyes started hurting from the monitor at work and the second monitor at home and the phone and the tablet and I read a whole fantasy series seven books and I kept a notebook next to me for the names because I have forty seven first cousins in real life and I cant keep those straight either so fictional characters are impossible and my cat sat on the book every time I opened it and I had tuna for lunch on the day I finished book four which was tuesday and it was raining and the tuna was from the good brand not the cheap one and I wrote all of this in the notebook too actually I have the notebook still
IMO the notebook method is solid. YMMV with sticky notes directly on pages though, some glue damages cheap paper. Take it with a grain of salt, but I found a simple index on the back flyleaf works better than nothing. Not as good as ctrl+f, but the spatial memory of "roughly where on the page" is a skill that comes back.
