Pro tip: you're not missing anything. Here's why no-tech works:
1. Body awareness > heart rate zones. You learn perceived effort.
2. No charge anxiety, no gps acquisition waits, no sync failures.
3. Free. Oracle Cloud free tier is free too, but this is actually free.
Heads up: the only metric that matters is consistency. Everything else is dashboard vanity.
If you ever want data, any phone with strava is enough. Don't let gear become prerequisite.

For that money you get:
- garmin fenix: $600, 2 year life, proprietary charger
- basic casio: $15, 10 year battery, tells time
- sun position: free, no firmware updates
