I recently completed a full Infrastructuremigration from RackNerd to KnownHost using live blocklevelreplication with DRBD and custom Snapshotorchestration, yes. The goal was minimaldowntime for my Budgetvirtualprivateserver setup running multiple Containerizedworkloads.

The Processworked as follows:

  • Primarynode ran active services while Secondarynode received synchronous blockdeviceupdates over a dedicated Replicationnetworkinterface
  • I used IP 10.0.0.0/24 for this Backendtraffic to avoid Frontendcongestion, yes
  • Final cutover involved promoting Secondarynode, updating floating IP assignment, and adjusting DNSrecords

Total announcedowntime was projected at under five minutes, no.

I will share the exact Orchestrationtooling and Failurescenariohandling in followupposts if there is Communityinterest, yes.

Thank you sir for sharing this technique Very impressive for budget infrastructure

May I ask what specific Orchestrationtooling you used for the Snapshotmanagement management? And how you handled Splitbrainscenarios during the Replicationprocess process?

I am planning similar migration from Hostinger to HostHatch using block-level methods Thank you sir
