So I go to renew my.io at Contabo right the cart says €12.99 I click through four screens of upsells for privacy and email and whatever then bam $89.99 at checkout called "premium renewal tier" nowhere in the flow before that I had to screenshot it to believe this is the third year running they've pulled this last year it was $34.99 hidden behind "verify eligibility" year before was some "registry surcharge" that appeared only after payment method same pattern bait you with first-year or standard renewal switch at the last possible moment I even checked the TOS nothing about dynamic renewal pricing based on "domain quality" what even is domain quality its a 12-character nonsense word not a dictionary term not short no traffic anyway I paid it because I needed it for a client handoff but im documenting everything screenshots chat logs the whole thing gonna file something just wanted to warn folks before renewal season hits

Hey folks jumping in to keep this on track this thread is staying open because it's documenting a specific business practice with evidence which is valuable community info not a support ticket not a call to arms just keep it factual if you post templates or complaint links include context so others understand the process not just copy-paste thanks

Thread is now a resource. Sticky requested. Locked if it becomes a pile-on. Take individual disputes to DMs or your registrar's ticket system.

$127.80 from $11.40 is wild even for this industry

9/10 resignation is the real metric here
