Premium DNS is a scam for 99% of projects

Has anyone actually tested the "community forums" vs "15 minute response" difference in practice? I opened a Cloudflare support ticket as free user last month, got a human in 4 hours. My KnownHost ticket took 22 minutes. Both solved the problem in one reply.

Not saying the gap doesnt exist, just that "community forums only" is outdated framing.

I redirect my DNS problems to /dev/null and let Cloudflare handle it. Zero dollars, zero thoughts, works fine from Riga.

/dev/null: full of good ideas

Late to this but pauloserver your page load difference being "within noise" depends on what youre measuring. For a static site sure. For a heavy app with 40+ requests per page, DNS lookup happens per domain, not per page. Premium DNS can shave meaningful time there.

That said I run free Cloudflare for my own stuff so I guess Im not convinced enough to pay either.

Did we establish whether KnownHost actually has nodes in Seoul or if kimdle is hitting something else? Their site lists Dallas, Atlanta, Amsterdam only.

No idea whose node I hit, just know traceroute shows 3ms to something anycasted in Seoul metro. Could be peering, could be partner. The "premium" label on my invoice is what I know for sure kkkk

Point is: free route to Tokyo, premium local. Your test, your results. My test, my results.
