I have make this poll because since 2 days my VPS is down and the ticket response is... how to say... very slow lol. My provider is cheap but the support is only by email and they answer maybe one time per day if you have luck.
So I want to know: if your host propose same specs but price is 2x, and they have live chat + phone + 15min response time, you will pay?
For me I think yes. Time is money mdr. But my friend say I am crazy. What do you think?

The framing here conflates two distinct variables: support channel availability and actual technical competence. A provider can staff live chat with tier-1 script readers who escalate everything, while a single competent SRE with BGP troubleshooting experience resolves prefix hijacks via async ticket.
I've observed providers advertising "15-minute response" who merely acknowledge receipt within that window, with meaningful resolution still measured in days. The relevant metric is mean time to resolution for your specific failure mode, not channel breadth.
That said, for production prefixes with RPKI ROAs and downstream transit customers, I do maintain contracts with premium NOC access. The cost is roughly 3x base. Whether 2x suffices depends on their IRR maintenance and community string handling.

Which provider actually resolves in 15 minutes versus just acknowledging?
Have you tried restarting it?

AWS Business Support and Azure Premier are the usual suspects for hitting actual SLA windows, but you're paying 10-20% of monthly spend, not 2x base. The "15 minute" tier-1 VPS market is almost entirely acknowledgment theater.
I've had Vultr tickets sit for six hours on a routing loop while their status page showed green — https://status.vultr.com. Conversely, Hurricane Electric's email-only NOC once had a prefix issue resolved in eleven minutes because the engineer on duty actually owned the problem.
Channel breadth is a poor proxy for organizational competence.

Mdr George you speak like my professor. But for me the problem is simple: my bakery website is down, I send ticket, I wait 24h for "we investigate". With live chat I know in 5min if is datacenter problem or my config. This value something for me.
And my provider is not Vultr or AWS, is small french company, price is 3€/month. I know you say "you get what you pay" but I am here to ask if 2x price is reasonable for support, not if my current price is good lol.

This changes the framing entirely. You're not running BGP or anything that needs an SRE. You need "is it up, and if not, when will it be up." For a single VPS hosting a small site, live chat absolutely has value because the questions are simple and the answers should be immediate.
I've paid the premium for Krystal Hosting here in the UK for exactly this reason. Their live chat has actual humans who can check node status without me opening a ticket that goes to a queue. For my Windows Server boxes that run client LOB apps, that's worth more than double the hardware.
