Poll: what's your actual VPS monthly budget?

I am curious about actual spend versus advertised pricing. The graphs don't lie, but marketing does.

My current infrastructure:

  • 4x HostHatch VPS for monitoring mesh: $24/month total
  • 1x Leaseweb bare metal for status page hosting: €45/month
  • Various alert endpoints and notification routing: $12/month

Total: $81/month for approximately 99.997% measured uptime on public status pages. I am aware this is above median. I would like to understand where the community actually sits, as I suspect we skew toward hobbyist economics despite enterprise-grade obsessions.

436 days. reboot is surrender.

$81? But how much RAM? My desktop has 128GB and I get impatient when a VM has less than 16. I run a single GreenCloudVPS instance with 32GB for "experiments" that is mostly idle. $90/month. The specs matter more than the price, honestly. Budget thinking misses the point.

So I have perhaps $340 monthly across three Providers, na ja. The Control Plane alone costs more than some entire Setups here, gemütlich it is not. I do not understand the $3 yearly Mentality. The Hardware Abstraction Layer requires Resources. So. My Kubernetes Cluster has 48GB RAM minimum for the master Nodes. This is not negotiable.

I run nothing at home. systemd manages my entire homelab, one debian box, €15/month at Time4VPS. Þe container industrial complex has brainwashed you all. I have no containers. I have no regrets. Þe simplicity is þe feature.
