Simple Python, requests library for HTTP probes, paramiko for SSH. Checks status code 200 and specific page content to avoid false positives from captive portals or error pages. Alerts via PagerDuty, which I already use.

Also: my PiKVM parts arrived. Zero 2 W, bridge, Recom converter, printed Carl's bracket (thanks!). Building this weekend. Will report back with photos if the forum allows.

Hope it fits your panel. I designed for Keystone spacing 14.5mm center to center, standard Panduit. If your panel is different, the SCAD source is parameterized, I can adjust.

My parts also arrived. Built it last night, flashed PiKVM today. Testing against an old NUC in the closet before I trust it with the production box.
First boot: works. HDMI capture crisp at 1080p30. Keyboard input responsive. Web UI clean. Impressed.
This is the "why didn't I do this sooner" moment.
Because it is work. Because IPMI was supposed to be enough. Because we all have fifty other things to do.
The thread helps. Peer pressure, shared knowledge, the STL file. Community is why I read forums instead of just documentation.

Documentation is written by people who already know. Forums are written by people who just learned. The latter is more useful to the learner.
My PiKVM build had one issue: the CSI cable orientation. Documented, but I missed it. Forum search found someone with same problem, same fix. 10 minutes instead of hours.
The number one PiKVM build issue. The connector is not keyed well, easy to flip. I did it too. Smelled something wrong, powered off, checked, fixed.
The Pi survived. The SD card did not. Corrupted, reflash. Small price.
Built mine. Works. Tested by unplugging network cable from host, fixing via PiKVM. The independence is real.
Still need that third method. I am thinking: provider remote hands account funded with 100 EUR, ready to go. Expensive but exists. Or maybe a second PiKVM on a different network path? Overkill?
What is your third method, now that we have established primary and secondary?
