Leshspace: 8 hosts, but I run a small hosting reseller business on the side. The churn is customer-driven, not me-driven. They want cPanel, I find cPanel host. They want DirectAdmin, I move. They want "something cheaper," I move again.
My actual personal infrastructure: one Hetzner dedicated, 6 years. The business chaos pays for the personal stability.
Corewhite. 6 hosts, left 2 after they implemented "AI-powered support" that was worse than no support. One ticket: "My disk is full." AI response: "Have you tried clearing your browser cache?" I am not making this up.
Human support costs money. I will pay for human support. Currently with Leaseweb because their tickets get answered by people who know what fstab is.
Snow9. First post, long-time lurker. This thread is missing something: the environmental cost. 23 hosts means 23 sets of idle overhead, redundant cooling, duplicated infrastructure. Even if you're stateless, you're voting with dollars for fragmentation.
I consolidated to one Hetzner dedicated in Finland because their PUE is published and good. One host. I know where my carbon is. Their status page: https://status.hetzner.com
Alexanderosama. 9 hosts, 5 countries. The reason is visa and payment method roulette. Egyptian card, sometimes works, sometimes blocked. PayPal, sometimes frozen. Crypto, sometimes the only way.
Now I have a friend in Germany with a SEPA account, I pay him, he pays Hetzner. One host, finally stable. The churn was never about the host.
Yuki18. 7 hosts, all Japanese or Singapore. The issue is latency to JP game servers. Anything over 80 ms is unplayable for fighting games. I tested 7 hosts, kept 2 with sub-60 ms routing to Tokyo.
This is not about price or disk or support. This is about 3-frame links in Street Fighter. Very specific infrastructure need.

Shared hosting, EUR 3/month, never outgrew it. Static site, email, one WordPress for family photos. The people talking about cgroups and BGP communities are living in a different universe. My host has a control panel from 2012 and it works. Why would I move?
