Paid zero for hosting this year. Not a typo. $0.
My strategy: comparison site with affiliate links. Traffic gets redirected through my content, providers pay per signup, I pipe earnings back into my own infrastructure. EOF.
Details before you assume I'm spamming forums with referral codes:
| run actual benchmarks on every host I review
| disclose affiliate relationships at top of each page
| only list providers I've used or tested personally
| traffic is organic, not bought
The forum sig link era is dead. You need content that ranks. I write 2000-word guides, update them quarterly, let Google redirect searchers to me. EOF.
Skeptical replies will be piped to /dev/null. I've heard them.

A lot of us post referral links here and receive basically nothing. Your "strategy" sounds like a lot of work for a free 512mb box. Im paying $8/year for CloudCone and not writing any articles. Wheres the profit

Larry, your $8 CloudCone box is a single point of failure. One billing glitch and you are rebuilding. The OP at least owns the pipeline. I do not trust affiliate income either, but I trust single-provider dependency even less.
