Running the numbers on my dedicated box at OVHcloud. 50TB included, pushing ~80TB/month of Linux ISOs for a small mirror project.

  • Cloudflare Pro-ish equivalent: ~$400/month at my volume
  • OVHcloud overage: €10/TB = €300/month
  • But wait—OVHcloud caps overage billing at €200.

So I'm paying $200 vs $400. The CDN defenders always say "but cache hit ratio!" but these are ISOs. People download once, maybe twice. No repeat traffic to cache.

Before everyone jumps in—yes, I know about egress optimization. Already tuned. Yes, I know about tiered caching. The math is the math.

Your model might. What's your cache hit ratio at the edge? Even 15% shifts the numbers. Also—status page for this mirror? Alert fatigue is real when you're pushing 30TB over plan every month.

CDN is about latency not just bandwidth. Your users in EU hitting a US box? Ouch. But €200 cap is tho, OVHcloud did that? Super stoked for you if it works
