OVHcloud 5-year prepaid hosting: performance collapsed, support gone

Did OVHcloud ever give a straight answer on the xmrig thing or they just ignore every ticket

I almost took their 2020 deal and now feel lucky I sat out

Coming back to this after a month because I keep thinking about it.

How's that working out? I looked at their pricing after you mentioned it but couldn't tell if their storage is actually local NVMe or networked.

Also did anyone ever get OVHcloud to acknowledge the xmrig thing formally? I opened two tickets in 2021 and both got closed without a real answer.

my cloud. my rules. my 3AM alerts.

87 days, figured this thread was dead but the xmrig detail just clicked for me

Checked processes and found some "xmrig" running They are mining on our idle cycles $89 for 5 years and they still want more!

Same binary name, same year, different "lifetime" host — mine was with InterServer, not OVHcloud

I always assumed it was a breach, never thought to check if it was deliberate

Did anyone here actually get OVHcloud to acknowledge it, or did you all just migrate and eat the sunk cost

Anyone actually squeeze a refund out of this

I emailed OVHcloud three times in 2022 and got nothing back

Same suspicion here but I never had proof

My box just got slower and slower until it was unusable

95 days late but still curious if anyone had luck

That timeline lines up way too neatly with the xmrig reports

I was on that same OVHcloud lifetime batch, different node though

My disk latency didn't spike until 2022 but the CPU steal started right when everyone else saw it

Did anyone actually get mining processes killed by support or did you just have to nuke the box

Bro coming back to this thread after almost a year

Did you ever try chargeback. I did through my bank after OVHcloud ignored 6 tickets. Took 4 months but got partial back.

Still on Vultr https://www.vultr.com now. Zero issues. Idle cpu actually idles.

The lesson is never prepay for "lifetime" anything

Has anyone actually gotten OVHcloud to acknowledge the miner issue in writing? My friend just nuked his instance and moved on, never bothered chasing it.

Vultr had the exact same lifetime structure in 2020, I was on that forum thread too. Their TOS quietly added a "fair compute" clause that let them throttle to 10% after 30 days

Has anyone here actually found a prepaid deal that didn't end in either mining abuse or a forced migration to "new plans"

I'm starting to think the business model is the same everywhere, just the timeline changes
