Youre paying $4 extra for nvme when sata ssd gets you 97% there for most stuff

Ran sysbench on my $4/mo Hostinger sata box vs my $16/mo KnownHost nvme box. 4k rand read: 2800 vs 3100 iops. Big whoop. Sequential? Basically identical.

For web hosting, light db, git, whatever? The nvme tax is a ripoff imo. Save the $4 and get another vps.

A lot of benchmarks in this space are synthetic garbage that dont match real workloads anyway

$3/year. 128MB RAM. Pure happiness.

Youre both missing the real game which is the $3/yrs from RackNerd that dont exist anymore because they were sata and sata is dead to the market now,,,,, nvme is just the excuse to kill the cheap plans,,,,, I had a GreenCloudVPS sata box from 2019 that outlived three nvme nodes from "better" providers,,,,, The scrap gods remember,,,,, The scrap gods dont need your iops,,,,,

Wey larry thats wild bro but actually I tested this too on my CloudCone box and the nvme was faster for docker builds bro!! Like 40% faster wey!!

But then I realized I dont actually build docker images on my vps lol I build local and push so ?? Why do I even care bro

Still tho for compile workloads it matters wey!!

$4/yr is 33% price hike. For 3% performance. Thats not a deal, thats not a steal, thats robbery.

Found a Time4VPS sata plan, 2GB RAM 50GB storage, €10/yr. Their nvme equivalent? $15/yr for 30GB. Less space, more money. Price-per-GB destroyed.

Free trials on nvme plans are bait. They know you wont benchmark properly.

2800 vs 3100 is inside run-to-run variance. Did you test 10 times?
