Before you chase core counts, did you test your restore? I've seen too many shiny Ryzen builds lose data. Remember 3-2-1: three copies, two media types, one offsite. For budget servers, consider:

  • Used Intel with known power draw
  • New Ryzen with warranty
  • Backup destination before anything else

  • Break-even analysis: Ryzen wins below 18 months at $0.15/kWh; Intel wins if power is subsidized or free.
  • Specific threshold: 6 cores per $100 monthly total cost of ownership.

Recommendation: Measure your actual workload. Cinebench R23 scores are irrelevant for nginx and Postfix.
