Hey folks — saw the draft regulation text circulating today. Effective 2027, facilities over 500kW IT load must hit PUE 1.3 or face operational restrictions. Smaller providers get phased in later, but the exemption threshold is 50kW IT load.
My concern: I'm running Hostinger as a side project. 12 racks in a converted warehouse. Current best estimate puts me at 1.45 PUE, and that's with the free cooling we get six months a year. The chiller upgrade to hit 1.3 would cost more than the business is worth.
Are other small operators looking at this? The exemption at 50kW seems designed to kill off anything between "homelab" and "hyperscale." Curious how folks are modeling compliance costs.
