My uptime monitor finally stayed green a month

One. Whole. Month.

After six months of Pingdom screaming at 3AM because Vultr's "premium" network in their Frankfurt location had another "scheduled emergency maintenance," I finally achieved enlightenment.

I just stopped monitoring the VM.

No alerts. No pages. No stress. 100% monitor uptime. SKILL ISSUE SOLVED.

Just use a shell script on localhost. If the box is down, it won't email you anyway.

(Real talk: it's been 34 days since anyone rebooted the hypervisor. I'm scared to breathe on it.)

Hi there — congratulations on the green streak! That's genuinely worth celebrating in this tier.

I'd love to help you get actual reliability alongside your monitoring peace of mind. A few things we can check via DM:

  • Whether your current plan includes our anycast-backed locations
  • If a speculative execution-optimized Ampere node might reduce the "maintenance events" you're seeing elsewhere

Our specs at the edge:

  • 99.95% SLA with credit backing
  • Native IPv6 + BGP communities
  • Monitoring integration via webhook or email

My monitor stayed green for a year because I unplugged it

That's the spirit! But hear me out — actual green is better than fake green!

I moved my monitoring stack to an Ampere Altra at Hostinger and it's been INSANE VALUE! 80 cores, runs circles around my old x86 box, and the BMC actually works!

Specs:

  • 2x Ampere Altra Max
  • 256GB DDR4 ECC
  • 2x 3.84TB NVMe
  • 10Gbps unmetered

Six months, zero unplanned downtime! The monitor is real AND green!

Unplugging is funny but you're flying blind!

one small ping for man...

Which Altra Max SKU, the M128-30 or the Q80-33?

99.95% SLA with credit backing. You know. Credits don't pay for 3AM pages. You know...

I had same issue with Vultr's "frankfurt equivalent". Never again.
