My ASN is showing as originating prefixes I don't own

I check bgp.tools today and see my ASN, AS202626, originate 203.0.113.0/24. This prefix I never announce. My upstream is Contabo, two server only. I check my router, no such prefix in config. Very confuse.

Will check IRR every week but today first time see this. My ASN is new, register three month ago. Previous holder maybe? I want fix before someone think I hijack. XD

show ip bgp neighbors 198.51.100.5 advertised-routes

Only my two /24 show. Where 203.0.113.0/24 come from?

Previous holder sounds likely, check RIPE history

«how to say»... the previous owner of your ASN, they leave the Route object in RIPE? This is very common. The RIPE db does not delete automatically when the ASN transfer.

You must open ticket with RIPE to remove old maintainer. Or if you have the mntner password, delete yourself. But usually previous holder forget to give.

I do this two time for client. Always check before buy ASN. Yes, very important.

R-tables were simpler then :-)

Stale IRR is classic gotcha. Happened to me with AS I bought in '19. Took 6 weeks to clean. RIPE was slow, RADB was slower. U should also check ARIN, APNIC, AFRINIC if previous holder was global. Legacy cruft everywhere.

Agree with above. Clean IRR before you announce anything. Also check RPKI ROAs from old holder. Stale ROA + stale IRR = double trouble. Some IX will filter you based on that.

Same thing happened to me with a RIPE transfer. Took weeks.

436 days. reboot is surrender.
