The hosting budget goes to servers, not to peripherals. I use the $12 membrane keyboard from supermarket and I have zero latency issues. Voilà, my WPM is 94 and my deployments do not fail because of switch type.

The group buys, the "thock," the lubrication rituals—this is mysticism. You pay 300 dollars for brass weight and tell yourself the signal integrity is improved. It is not. The USB polling rate is 1000Hz regardless.

I will die on hosting hill before I die on keyboard hill. Voilà.

Rebuttal.

- membrane actuation force: 65-70g average, inconsistent across keys
- mechanical switch variance: ±5g factory spec, measurable
- fatigue onset: membrane 45 minutes, linear mechanical 90+ minutes
- repairability: membrane zero, mechanical full

The astrology comparison fails. Astrology lacks falsifiable claims. Switch force curves are published and reproducible.

@blogfranck I used membrane for three years, made test order for switch tester last month! The difference in finger fatigue is real, is not placebo. Sent ticket yesterday to Vultr support asking if we could stock keycap pullers, they said no but gave me discount code for Hetzner instead! https://www.hetzner.com
