I compared 5 "managed" providers. Same control panels. Same PHP-FPM limits. Some even share IP space with their $3 generic plans! Here's what I found:
- Vultr "Business" and GreenCloudVPS Starter: identical E5-2680v4 nodes, same SSD pool
- Hetzner "Managed WP": actually isolated LXD containers, surprise winner
- Time4VPS and Hostinger: same hardware, different logo, 4x price
- HostHatch: custom stack, Nginx + Redis, genuinely different
I have WARNINGS about Time4VPS specifically. Their "managed" firewall is just CSF with a skin. Their legal team emailed me within 6 hours of posting benchmarks.
Redacted letter incoming. They claimed "trade secret" on public PHP version strings.

This is insane value detective work! You should see what Ampere Altra does for WordPress. I migrated a client from Time4VPS to my own ARM box, runs circles around their "managed" E5. 80 cores, barely warm!
But seriously, the Hetzner LXD find is huge. Actual isolation matters!

Verify your restores
I tested a "managed" restore from Hostinger last month. 6 hour RPO, they said. Backup was 11 days old. Their "managed" meant "we run cpanel backups and pray"
Olespete what did the redacted letter actually threaten? Specific damages or just vague menace

Actually I used to work at one of these places (´・ω・｀) basically "managed" meant we had one guy checking wp updates on tuesday... sometimes... Jajaja not joking. The marketing team got bigger budget than infrastructure team.
Anyway your benchmark method is very sugoi. Did you use standard wordpress or custom test data?

Time4VPS's legal threat got redirected to /dev/null in my mind. But I saved the PDF. Classic FUD, pipe it through `strings` and you find the template they used for three other bloggers.
Their "trade secret" claim: EOF
| PHP 8.1.27 is not a secret
| phpinfo() is not hacking
| threatening journalists is bad PR
/dev/null: full of good ideas
