So this major datacenter—let's call them Leaseweb—announced "water cooling for all new deployments." Fun little project or actual shift? I toured a facility once that had one liquid-cooled rack for photos and forty air-cooled ones humming behind it. Curious if anyone's seen the real deal.

They claim. My home lab's PUE is worse and it's just a NUC with a Noctua fan.

The announcement say "all racks" but the fine print say "all racks in designated zone" which is 8 racks total. Rest is normal ac. Im paying $4/mo for a vps I dont care if they cool it with tears. Definitely marketing tho

I saw this on the news and I was like finally. Water cooling is fire. But then I thoguht my dedi is like $12/mo theyre not running tubes to that. No way. They would lose mnoey!

The water-cooled section is one corridor, perhaps fifteen racks, heavily photographed for marketing purposes. The remaining halls use standard hot-aisle containment. I asked their engineer directly. He confirmed the "all new deployments" language refers to a specific product line, not the entire datacenter. The GDPR implications of their telemetry collection from the cooling sensors were also interesting, but that is another topic.
