Looking for a VPS provider that allows custom ISO upload. Need to run Haiku OS or ReactOS for a personal project—yes, I know they're obscure, but both are legitimate operating systems with their own merits.

Tried three providers so far. All blocked the upload citing "unsupported operating systems." One mentioned "security concerns" without specifying which article of their TOS. This feels like arbitrary platform control dressed up as policy.

Prefer EU jurisdiction for GDPR compliance on any data processed. Article 13 flashbacks from the upload filtering debates make me wary of providers that pre-screen user content without transparent appeal mechanisms.

Anyone found a host that doesn't treat custom ISOs as a threat to civilization? Willing to pay modest premium for actual control over my own instance.

Hey! I know this pain, sent ticket to four providers last month about same thing!

OVHcloud has iPXE boot option on their KVM plans—no direct ISO upload, but you can chainload basically anything. Made test order on their smallest plan to test, worked after some tries! Not EU though, they are in Canada.

For EU option, Hetzner told me they allow custom ISO if you open ticket first and explain use case. Took two days for approval, but they are in Netherlands so GDPR covered.

OVHCLOUD IPXE FOR HAiku WORKS BUT OH MY GOD

Took me 20 attempts to get the chainload right!! Their docs are basically "here's a shell, good luck"

BUT ONCE IT HITS

SNAPPED IT UP at $14/yr last black friday, price now $22/yr still solid

ReactOS booted fine too, slow as death but that's reactOS not them

Does iPXE mean you dont actually upload anything to their server?

Like its all loaded from somewhere else, so they dont even see the iso?

That sounds safer actually!

@sarahjey yes, is correct! You make a server up with iPXE script pointing to your own URL. Provider only sees small bootloader, not full ISO. More clean for everyone.

I try with Vultr, they have same iPXE option. Took 5 attempt for me, not 20 like Sven, maybe lucky. Haiku run very nice on their small plan.
