Registrar that doesn't bundle useless WHOIS privacy

Dear sir/madam,

I am seeking a registrar only where the WHOIS privacy is unbundled. I do not require it myself. The pricing transparency is important only.

Currently I am using Hetzner where the privacy is €8.99 yearly and it is mandatory at checkout. The domain itself is $9.99. I am paying $18.98 total. This is unacceptable.

Kindly recommend a registrar where the privacy is optional or absent. I am comfortable with my contact information being public. The barebones pricing is preferred.

I have reviewed Vultr and InterServer but their pricing pages are unclear regarding this matter only. Kindly clarify if you have experience.

Hetzner's "privacy" is a joke anyway

I ran it through a data broker lookup last year and my "protected" info showed up on three marketing lists the $8.99 is paying for a feeling not a service

I moved to CloudCone where privacy is truly opt-out, $6 base, no forced bundle. Their WHOIS still shows my name and I get zero spam. The brokers already have everything, the "privacy" services just charge rent on a lock that doesn't exist

CloudCone is good for this... but their support... you get the idea...

I tried KnownHost too... no bundle... no privacy either... just honest WHOIS... but the hidden fee... the ICANN charge... the processing fee... five dots later you're at €14 anyway...

Leaseweb was clean once... then they added "registry security fee"... mandatory... $3.50... you see where this goes...

The only true answer... host your own DNS... run your own registrar... but that's another thread...

Tracked their price history since 2022: base domain flat $9.99, zero fees added at cart, $0 ICANN fee (they eat it). Only jumped once 2023 $8.99 to $9.99

The "free" privacy at Vultr? Friend works in adtech, those lists come FROM the privacy services paid twice: once with your data, once with your money
