Provider that allows custom ISO upload

So I got this minecraft box running some weird fork of OpenBSD for a custom server mod. Long story. My current provider killed custom ISO last month and now my valheim lag is nothing compared to the lag of trying to find a new home for this thing.

Need: upload my own ISO, boot it, install, done. No "open a ticket and maybe" because my guild is waiting. Gg for any tips wp in advance

Vibe check before advice: poggers that you run openbsd for a minecraft servr, literally based. Ok so check Vultr https://www.vultr.com, they had custom iso in th3ir panel last I looked. Also Contabo maybe but that was s3rver admin only, not vps. Bettr check before you commit. Pog

Vultr does list custom ISO in their feature matrix, but there is an important distinction: their public documentation references "upload via support ticket" for ISOs larger than 650MB, which most modern OpenBSD releases exceed. The self-service ISO feature is limited to their curated list.

  • OVHcloud has full self-service custom ISO through their panel with no ticket requirement. I verified this personally in January.
  • They use a standard iPXE chain, so your OpenBSD bootloader should chainload without issue.
  • The network configuration is standard DHCP; no BGP communities or unusual routing involved.

Went with OVHcloud. Custom iso worked. No ticket. Up in ten minutes. Previous host needed ticket for everything. Ticket wait three days. Never again.

Before you upload anything, check OVHcloud's TOS — I think they have something about unusual operating systems in there. Their acceptable use policy, from memory, defines supported configurations pretty narrowly, and while custom ISO is technically permitted, they reserve the right to terminate for systems that cause operational burden. Not legal advice, but "no ticket required" does not mean "no scrutiny applied." Your custom OpenBSD fork may trigger review if it generates abuse reports or unusual traffic patterns.
