Looking for monitoring that won't cost more than the server

Dear sir/madam,

I am running a small VPS at $12 per year only from Hostinger. I require uptime monitoring with email alerts itself, kindly suggest options. The SaaS tools I find are $5 per month minimum, which is costly only — five times my server cost itself.

I have seen UptimeRobot free tier but kindly note I require more frequent checks than five minutes. Self-hosted is acceptable if lightweight. My VPS has 512MB RAM only.

Kindly advise suitable monitoring solutions.

Thank you,
Priya

Self-hosted: Uptime Kuma works in 256MB. Or just run a cron job to curl yourself and scream into the void. Mark my words, you'll spend more time maintaining the monitor than the server. The race to the bottom continues.

Thread is fine. Keep it technical.

Uptime Kuma. Ntfy. Gatus. All fit 512MB.

Locked is not happening yet.

@dancore config or it didn't happen

My GreenCloudVPS $10/year bench for reference:

CPU: Intel E5-2680 v2 @ 2.80GHz
1-core: 823
Disk: 287 MB/s read, 194 MB/s write
Network: 480 Mbit to NY, 220 Mbit to EU

512MB, 10GB disk. Kuma runs fine. But curious about your cron setup. I use https://healthchecks.io for that.

fio, iperf, geekbench. results or gtfo.
