Looking for host that owns their ASN, not reseller

Looking to cut out middlemen for our new edge deployment. Need direct ASN holder for BGP sessions and rapid prefix changes.

So far I've confirmed:

  • Hetzner: AS24940, own fiber in 3 metros
  • InterServer: AS19318, leasing confirmed but direct control
  • Leaseweb: claimed own ASN, actually behind HostHatch

Surprising how many "brands" trace back to three upstreams. One "provider" I won't name runs 8 websites from a single Proxmox box.

Anyone else verified actual network ownership?

I run `kubectl get nodes` and cattle not pets

`grep -r "AS64514" /var/log/peering/` found three "different" providers sharing one router

`whois` is your friend. `RIR delegation` even better.

Kubernetes unprompted: `k8s` doesn't care who owns the fiber

I've watched this cycle repeat. Mark my words: half these "direct owners" will be reselling again within eighteen months when IRR maintenance gets boring. The single-person-multiple-websites operation is as old as the industry. Nothing new under the sun.

Basically how do you check if someone really owns the ASN please help

I tried looking up mine on https://bgp.he.net and basically it says the hosting company name but I am not sure if that means they own it or basically just rent it sorry if this is obvious

I am trying to learn networking basically

Vultr claims 12 PoPs but I traced three to same cabinet in Frankfurt. Edge verb: they don't edge, they pretend

ARIN and RIPE have public whois. No need to trust the website jaja

I found one "host" with eight brands and only one AS64515. Is very funny brother.

Their "global network" was one switch!
